CHAZ Davies finally broke his season duck with victory in race two at Laguna Seca in the ninth round of the World Superbike Championships (WSBK).

The Presteigne star rode the Panigale V4 R to victory for the first time to top the podium in the first time in 15 months.

Davies dominated from start to finish to toast his 30th career win having just missed out in race one with second place finish to Kawasaki’s Jonathan Rea.

“This win really means a lot to me, because it’s been a long hard season so far,” said Davies. “The last time I won was almost a year and a half ago and it gets to a point where you wonder whether you can still win or not.

“It’s just proof that if you keep plugging away and working hard then the results sooner or later will come.

“Finally, we got it right, my team did an excellent job when we made a big change to the bike’s set-up. I’m very happy and thrilled to get this result going into the summer break.

The next round is in Portugal in September.
