LLANIDLOES endured a day to forget with a three wicket defeat at home to Coton Hall in Henshalls Shropshire League Seven.

The home side had hoped to mark carnival day with the points to strengthen their title bid but were instead undone by Coton Hall.

Adrian Foulkes (27) and Eogan Jones (21) followed opener Will Denham (11) in making early runs before Llanidloes suffered a collapse with Russell Swallow (11) guiding Llanidloes to just 118 to defend.

Patrick McBennett (3-26), Dan Thomas (2-18) and Rich Cowley claimed the wickets for Hall.

Eogan Jones (1-18) removed opener Alastair Rich in reply, caught by Andrew Jones for six.

However surviving opener Connor Tinsley was joined by McBennett and Thomas in reviving the Hall order.

Tinsley was caught by Denham off Ioan Swallow (1-25) for 20 while Foulkes (3-19) celebrated the wickets of McBennett (36) and Thomas (22).

Llanidloes maintained pressure with Russell Swallow (1-26) snaring Simon Underhill LBW for a duck.

However Coton Hall were not to be denied with Gary Chesters (27no) joined by Cowley (4no) in an unbroken eighth wicket stand to steer their side to 120-7 and victory in the 32nd over.

Elsewhere Alberbury IIIs celebrated a comfortable seven wicket win at home to Wem IIIs in Henshalls Shropshire Sunday League One.

Lara Jones (4-20) and support from Edward Dale (2-12) helped restrict Wem to 126-8 with opener Shaun Moster (44) top scoring for the visitors.

Jones carried her bat with an unbeaten 57 in reply with support from James Lee (10) and Guy Davis (29) helping Alberbury to 127-3 in the 27th over.
