NEWTOWN were left red faced after suffering a crushing eight wicket defeat at Beacon.
Town were reduced to 16-4 as Mitchell Lloyd and Jack Doyle (2-16) tore through the top order before Sam Morris and Joe Monk formed a 26 run fifth wicket partnership.
Morris was caught by Mike Turner for 17 to complete Lloyd’s 3-22 and wickets fell in quick succession.
Anthony Duffy (4-12) and Lee Pickford (1-7) made light work of the Town middle and tail end with Monk (13) falling to leave the Welsh side skittled for 57 in the 21st over.
Alan Mines (14no) carried his bat in reply and despite the best efforts of David Laird (1-13) and Monk (1-9) the home side eased to glory and 60-2 in the 17th over with Doyle (17) and Turner (14no) doing the damage.
