MONTGOMERY’S promotion bid was dealt a blow with a six wicket defeat at Wroxeter.
Andrew Barker (33) and Charles Clinton (30) were supported by Tom Corfield (14) in a bright opening before Aaron Ruff-Cock (45) led the middle order in guiding Montgomery to 171-7 to defend.
Sam Challies (2-20) and Tym Fern (2-31) led the home side attack.
Ruff-Cock (1-28) bowled opener Adie Eley (16) in reply but the hosts laid foundations with Tom Owen joined by Charlie Haylett for the second wicket before departing to Charlie Kinsey (1-23) for 38.
Sam Williams (1-27) snared Richard Evason LBW for six but Haylett was joined by Joe Brown in working the scoreboard before the latter fell to Patrick Fletcher (1-25) for 31.
Haylett (45) and Dan Harris (17no) combined for the fifth wicket to steer Monty to 174-4 and victory.
