AELWEN Davies continues to make strides in her bid to make her professional cycling dreams a reality.

The 11 year old from Builth Wells has been cycling since she was three years old and racing since she was seven and currently competes in four disciplines, road, track, cyclo cross and mountain bike cross country.

The Builth Wells Primary School pupil is also a member of the Bulls Cycling Club, Brecon Swimming Club, Brecon Triathlon Club and Llandrindod Dragons Gymnastic Club.

Davies has enjoyed a stellar career on the saddle to date with 134 wins from 142 races and this year won the Welsh Cycling Cyclo Cross Championships at Abergavenny before claiming glory in the Welsh Cycling Criterium Championships in Aberystwyth and the Welsh Cycling Mountain Biking Championships in Pembrey.

The youngster has also stepped up to compete in triathlon as part of the Welsh Triathlon’s TriStar series, taking home a silver medal in her first year.

This year Davies has competed in three triathlons so far, winning two and ending second in the other to qualify for the Welsh squad for the Home Nations Championships in Leicestershire in September.

In August the youngster will travel to Holland for a six day road stage race at the European Youth Tour of Assen, competing against children from across the world.
