JONNY Pugh held off the challenge of Hereford Couriers runner Matt James to win the second race of the Herefordshire Summer Off Road League in Ludlow.

The Builth Wells star celebrated his second win of the series with James ending second while Builth Wells veteran Mike Pfeiffer claimed third to ensure the club claimed the team prize with a combined 141 points.

Croft Ambrey’s Katie Ayers, running in only her second league race, won the women’s race by a margin of over a minute from Wye Valley’s Jodie Newell with Ledbury Harriers’ Holly Gourley third.

At the halfway stage of the 4 race series, Croft Ambrey still hold a strong lead of 51 points over Builth Wells with Wye Valley a further nine points behind in third place.

The next race in the series will be hosted by Wye Valley Runners and held at Queenswood on Wednesday, July 10.
