Montgomery moved up to fourth in Henshalls Shropshire League Two with a 25 run victory over struggling Albrighton on Saturday.

Monty batted first and got off to the worst possible start with openers Tom Corfield and Andrew Barker out for ducks before captain Sam Williams galvanised the hosts.

Williams (28) was supported by Tim Davies (27) while Aaron Ruff-Cock (26), Ieuan Griffiths (19) and Charlie Clinton (17) helped Montgomery to 158 to defend.

Alex Renton (3-12), Adam Shimmons (2-22) and Darren Shimmons (2-42) shared the wickets for Albrighton.

Alex Bromley (3-27) and Ruff-Cock (3-13) led the bowling charge in reply while the key wicket of opener Renton was claimed by Patrick Fletcher (1-19) with Williams taking the catch for a top scoring 60.

Darren Shimmons (14) and Ian Wright (14no) led middle order resistance before the fall of Andy Parker (10) completed Albrighton’s demise for 133.
