BUILTH Wells claimed a deserved share of the spoils with a home draw against Wormelow in division one of the GB Liners Marches League.

Opener Matt Deem starred for the visitors with a top scoring knock of 104 with support from Richard Stafford (22).

Deem was joined by Luke Jones before the latter was caught by Aled Powell off Rob Wall for 34.

Deem formed a 56 run third wicket partnership alongside Elliott Williams who became the final victim of Wall (3-51), caught by McPhee for 29.

However Deem continued to work the scoreboard with a 59 run fifth wicket stand alongside Ben Porter until finally being run out by McPhee for 104.

Porter (28no) pushed Wormelow to an imposing 250-5 for the Bulls to chase to reply.

Winston Williams and Steve Anderson combined for 40 for the opening wicket before the latter was caught by Deem of Tom Cutler who promptly completed his 2-12 with the wicket of Sam Williams (8).

Winston Williams was joined by McPhee in a 31 run third wicket stand before being stumped by Ashley Smith off Porter (2-28).

McPhee continued to lead the Bulls charge with Chris Roff (24) joining him in 30 run fifth wicket stand before being caught by Cutler off Williams (1-66).

However McPhee was not to be denied and joined by Henry Edwards (10) and Richard Galton (5no) in steering Builth to 215-6 and a draw.

Meanwhile Builth Wells’ GB Liners Marches Cup dream is over for another year after crashing to a nine wicket defeat at Luctonians on Sunday.

Powell (19), Ezra Tattersall (14) and Mike Williams (14) top scored for Builth as Matt Bengry (4-11) and Pete Griffiths (2-9) restricted the Bulls to 96-9.

James Platford (56no) carried his bat in reply with support from Will Maund guiding Lucton to 99-1 and victory.

Meanwhile Builth Wells IIs crashed to a seven wicket defeat at Wormelow IIs in division three.

Paul Rowe (28). Jon Corzon (28) and Ian Morgan (22) helped Builth to 102 to defend with Jeewan Puri (4-20) and Ian Herbert (4-2) leading the wickets.

David Bannerman (21) and Jamie Langford (28) were joined by Owen Jones (34no) in guiding the hosts to 103-3 in reply
