HAZEL Wilson has been elevated to the World Bowls board of directors.
The Berriew bowler and Welsh national team manager recently masterminded Wales’ silver medal in the women’s fours and overall third place at the British Isles Championships.
Wilson also guided Wales to gold in the fours and bronze in the pairs at the Atlantic Championship in Cardiff earlier this year, clinching their place at the Commonweath Games 2020 in Australia.
Wilson has two decades of experience having represented Wales with distinction since 1998m winning the Welsh title in 1999 and British title in 2000.
World Bowls president John Bell said: “Hazel is one of the top professionals in her field, a genuine all-rounder, and we’re thrilled to have her wealth of experience, dynamism and positivity on the board.’
World Bowls chief executive Gary Smith said: “I’ve known Hazel Wilson for many years, she’s a top professional who knows how to get things done, and her knowledge of bowls is second-to-none. She is a great asset to our organisation.”
