THE MMP-NL Mid Wales League held its annual meeting at Llanidloes Golf Club on Monday night.

Llanfair United’s promotion to the North Wales Championship as champions was confirmed with Churchstoke relegated while second division champions Montgomery Town were joined by Four Crosses and Hay St Marys in stepping up to the first division.

The second division also accepted the applications of Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League One champions Penparcau along with Forden United of the JT Hughes Montgomeryshire League and Knighton Town of the Watson Financial Mid Wales League South.

It was also confirmed next season would be the last the Mid Wales League would be affiliated to the Football Association of Wales (FAW) with the league becoming a recreation level league to be administered by the Central Wales Football Association (CWFA)from the 2021 season.

This follows controversial restructuring of the Welsh football pyramid by the FAW which sees Mid Wales left as the only region of Wales not to have its own league in the new three tiered system.

Meanwhile Llanfair United’s Rhys Stephens was popular choice as first division manager of the season with Carno’s Andy Evans named player of the season and Will Thomas of Welshpool Town the league top scorer.

Luke Williams was named second division manager of the season with Dolgellau Athletic’s David Edwards scooping the player of the season gong and Jack Biggs of Hay St Marys the top scorer
