MORE than 250 children from schools throughout the Welshpool area took part in the annual cricket and rounders competition at Maesydre.
Guilsfield came out on top against a strong Trewern team in the final of the cricket competition and will now compete in the North Wales finals held at Colwyn Bay.
The rounders competition saw Montgomery, Arddleen and Trewern win their respective groups.
Organiser Ryan Davies said: “The event was a true success with all children improving their skills throughout the day.
“A massive thank you to Welshpool High School’s Sports leaders group for umpiring the matches along with Kelly Midmore, Sam Morris and Nia Weaver for volunteering on the day.
“Without them the event would not have been a success.”
