ALBERBURY slipped to a two wicket defeat at home to Henshalls Shropshire League One high flyers Shelton.

The hosts suffered a nightmare start with Charles Bourne caught by Zeke Mellor off Sam Griffiths while fellow opener Mike Crawshaw joined him in the pavilion, caught by Ben Chambers off Simon Jones (1-22).

Mark Jones (22) revived the home order and joined by James Harrap (19) and Andrew Wynne (12).

However the middle order wobbled as Chambers (2-38) and Griffiths (3-14) struck while the wicket of Jones was claimed by Dominic Bradburne (1-10).

Sam Morris dug in and looked to revive the middle order only to be undermined by a tail end collapse before Morris was caught by Jack Morris off Alun Morris (2-10) for 41 to leave Alberbury all out for 120.

James Bird (2-19) struck early in reply with Mellor bowled for a duck before Harry Jones was trapped LBW for two.

Morris (1-20) maintained the early pressure with Ben Matthews bowled for one.

Alun Morris stitched together the Shelton innings before being caught by Harrap off Andy Holloway (1-19).

Matthew Bevan (3-22) maintained pressure on the middle order with Jack Morris (3) and Chambers (22) removed before Keith Tate was caught by Morris for a top scoring 3.

With Harrap (1-41) catch and bowling Griffiths (11) the visitors were on the ropes.

However Shelton were not to be denied with Denzel Phiri (16no) joined by Bradburn (5no) in guiding their side to 124-8 in the 37th over of their reply.
