BIG hitting Builth Wells stormed to a seven wicket win at home to Brockhampton IIIs in division one of the GB Liners Marches League.

The visitors began brightly with an 82 run opening wicket stand only brought to an end when Robin Holgate was caught by Chris Roff off Dylan McPhee for 28.

McPhee continued to lead the Bulls attack with surviving opener Chris Powell caught by Sam Williams for a top scoring 66 to end a 22 run second wicket stand alongside Indiana Jerram.

Jerram and Rhys Price upped the ante with the dup combining in a 105 run third wicket stand before Jerram was caught by Steve Anderson off Williams (1-54) for 54.

Price pushed Brockhampton to 225-4 when he was removed by Arthur Davies (1-37) with McPhee (3-32) ensuring the visitors were left to defend 256-.7.

Builth suffered an indifferent start to their reply with Winston Williams (12) and Anderson (0) falling cheaply.

However a massive 215 run third wicket partnership between Sam Williams (119no) and McPhee changed the outcome of the game with the duo pushing their side to 241-3 before the latter was caught and bowled by Jerram (1-39) for 100 to leave Roff (10no) to join captain Williams in guiding Builth to 260-3 in the 37th over.

Presteigne had to be content with a draw against Canon Frome IIs in division three.

Matthew Richards (63no) carried his bat for Frome and joined by Chris Olkesy (51) in defying Mark Ammonds (5-17) and guide the hosts to 190-8.

Greg Chilman (73) led Presteigne’s reply before falling to Marcus Richards (2-30) with Will Stephens (2-30) and Luke Griffiths (3-30) celebrating regular wickets to leave Byron Jones (4no) and Neil Powell (3no) to defend the final wicket at 162-9.
