RUSSELL Cadwallader has returned to the helm of Welshpool Town.

The club legend will be joined by senior players Will Thomas and Steve Jones in taking the reins of the MMP-NL Mid Wales League One side with the duo serving as assistants.

Cadwallader takes over from joint managers Chris Roberts and Neil Pryce who have stepped down after two successful seasons.

Cadwallader has a wealth of experience having managed Guilsfield and Berriew in the Huws Gray Alliance while having several spells as manager of Welshpool Town, a club he is synonymous with having represented the Lilywhites in the Welsh Premier along with stints at Mid Wales rivals Caersws and Llansantffraid.

Club secretary Eva Bresdorff confirmed the new management set-up.

Bresdorff said: "This change will build on the good work carried out by last year’s managers Chris Roberts and Neil Pryce, who both did a brilliant job, for which the club is most grateful.

"With Russell Cadwallader at the helm of the first team the club will continue its policy of giving its talented young players an opportunity to play senior football with the core of established and experienced players.

"This very much reflects the ethos of Welshpool Town Football Club to create a clear pathway from junior through youth to adult football."

The club annual meeting will take place the town's Angel public house on Thursday, June 20 at 7pm with all supporters welcome to attend.
