ALBERBURY IIs crashed to an emphatic nine wicket defeat at home to Condover in division five of the Henshalls Shropshire League.

Joss Elliott (22) and Sahim Zaza (21) led the home side’s top order before Benjamin Jones (3-13) and Mark Griffiths (3-37) struck for Condover.

Rob Owen (27) led tail end resistance before Robbie Barker (2-21) restricted Alberbury to just 127 to defend.

Griffiths (42no) carried his bat in reply and joined by Charlie Rogers (69no) in guiding Condover to 128-1 in the 30th over as Alberbury's testing start to the season continued.

Meanwhile an inspired team bowling display guided Newtown IIs to a 32 run win at Market Drayton.

The evergreen Dai Brown (22) top scored as Newtown stumbled to just 122 to defend under pressure from Nigel Wellings (4-15) and Paul Gould (3-24) who led the Market Drayton attack.

James McClelland (32no) led the home reply but regular wickets from Jonathon Davies (3-32), Brandon Baynham (2-19), Matt Humphreys (2-20), Paul Hawthorn (2-9) and Ryan Blayney (1-7) completed Market Drayton’s demise for 90 as Newtown celebrated victory.

Meanwhile Montgomery IIs held out for a battling draw at Wellington IVs.

Keith Griffiths (4-22) and Jonathan Williams (2-17)restricted Wellington to 204-7 with opener Matthew Lamb (61) and supporting knocks from Adrian Casey (31) and Charlie Knight (29no) doing the damage for the hosts.

Kamal Amlugedara (4-12) included the prize wicket of Lennon Bryan (26) with Williams (26) removed by Matthew Lamb (1-11) after Andy Parkyn (2-27) struck early to remove Clive Jones (19).

However Montgomery were not to be denied a share of the spoils with Alex Matthews (5no) and Morgan Matthews (4no) defending the final wicket as their side closed on 141-9.
