NEWTOWN Boxing Club is back on its feet.
The club has affiliated with the Welsh Amateur Boxing Association with Joe Evans and Darren Rogers taking over as coaches.
The club was represented at the Welsh Amateur Boxing Championships in Cardiff.
Rhys Williams entered the under 75kg weight category and was drawn against Welsh international Kyran Jones from Gelligaer ABC in the first round.
The Newtown fighter earned experience against the eight time Welsh champion who went on to win the competition
Joe Evans entered the light heavy category at 81kg and progressed through the early rounds by defeating Jordan John and Ethan George.
Evans took on Harris Khan from Grange ABC in the final and used his fitness to open up the third round before losing by a split decision
Newtown Boxing Club train on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday evenings in Nmac gym and children’s training on Wednesday from 4.15pm.
