MATT Windsor’s extra-time winner won the day for Trewern United as the club celebrated its first silverware since reforming in 2016.

A spirited challenge from Kerry Reserves saw the game head into extra-time at Llansantffraid’s Treflan ground and with the game seemingly destined for penalties the stage was set for captain Windsor.

With 115 minutes on the clock a partially cleared cross fell for Windsor on the edge of the area who unleashed an unstoppable strike into the top corner to spark wild celebrations.

Trewern manager Nathan Jones paid tribute to his side.

“I am delighted to finally win our first cup since the club reformed. This is the reward for the effort everyone on and off the pitch has put in and I couldn’t be any happier for them.

“Also to win the game with a worldie of a goal from our captain makes it even more special especially with the game looking destined to go to penalties.

“Big respect to Kerry Reserves who put in a great battling performance.”
