CONNOR Owen was crowned North Wales Under 18s champion last weekend.

The Newtown golfer shone during the two day event held at Rhuddlan Golf Club on Saturday and Abergele Golf Club on Sunday.

Contested over 72 holes the championship went down to the wire with Owen securing the title by one shot with par on the last hole.

Owen’s gross score of 72 in each of the four rounds meant he ended four over par for the tournament.

Proud father Danny said: “We could not be happier for him, a lot of hard work and commitment is needed to perform at this level.

“This is a big win and hopefully he can build on it going forward during the rest of the season.”
