PHOEBE Richards has spoken of her pride following another stellar season.

The Knighton raised hockey player ended the season in the Investec Women’s Premier League team of the season in recognition of her efforts for Buckinghamshire.

The centre forward is the daughter of Philip and Pamela Richards from Knighton.

Richards said: “It is a honour to be selected in the Investec Women’s Premier League Team of the Year.

“This selection is made by the officials, coaches and my peers within the league and puts me ahead of players who are centrally contracted and funded by GB.

“I have to manage a full time career outside hockey as well as fund the hockey myself which is obviously not an easy task so this recognition is gratefully received.”

Richards will link up with the Welsh national team for the summer’s FIH Series final in Spain and hope to earn her 100th cap.

“Wales continue to climb the world rankings and become more competitive year on year,” said Richards who was part of the Wales team to beat India in the Commonwealth Games in Australia last year.
