County Times' resident cricket expert Patrick Cudmore looks ahead to the weekend's big game in the Henshalls Shropshire League.

"Newtown take on Shelton this weekend after a low scoring victory over Bridgnorth IIs last weekend.

"David Laird will hope to build on the form he produced on his first chance with the willow scoring 69 of the allotted 135 scored.

"David Anthony picking up four wickets last weekend will have to produce the same deadly formula if they hope to overcome a newly established Shelton XI.

"Shelton's new signing Alun Morris has already proved his worth carrying his bat for a 144 last weekend and with the quality of Sam Griffiths heading the Shelton Bowling line up, Newtown know that they will have to have a resilience with the bat.

"Both of these teams are expected to have strong campaigns in Division One this year so no doubt the locals will be licking their lips for a tasty affair at the Recreation ground this weekend."
