Llanidloes Res 2 Penybont united 4

PENYBONT United enjoyed cup champagne with Pip Samuel Electrical Mid Wales League South Cup final glory over Llanidloes Town Reserves in Builth Wells.

Goalkeeper Mac McKane kept Llanidloes at bay early on and allowed the Polecats to lead against the run of play with Phil Ruell scuffing home Scott Davies’ cross

Penybont started the second-half with intent and Davies doubled the lead from 18 yards only for the Daffodils to immediately reduce the arrears through Rhys Evans.

Man of the match Davies set up Ezra Tattersall to restore the Polecats’ advantage with 15 minutes remaining before substitute Rory Brown unleashed a 25 yard strike into the top corner to spark wild celebrations.

Llanidloes rallied and reduced the arrears once again late on through Rhys D Evans but it was too late to prevent the cup returning to Penybont.

Penybont manager Gavin Johnson said: “We started slow and a little nervous but defended excellently as a team.

“Scoring settled everyone down and we started to play football.

“The second-half was an unbelievable performance with three great goals. I am so happy for the boys.”
