TNS 1 Connahs QN 0

GREG Draper once again proved the difference with his 36th goal of the season ensuring TNS ended the season on a high.

Having been crowned champions the Saints welcomed a Nomads side whose only hope was to give their illustrious hosts a bloody nose.

Draper tried his luck from 20 yards with a cheeky lob dipping just wide early on.

Jamie Mullan’s deflected shot dragged across the face of goal on 18 minutes before the deadlock was broken five minutes later.

Former TNS defender Danny Holmes impeded Tom Holland in the area with Draper slotting home the resulting penalty off the crossbar.

TNS dictated the remainder of the half but were unable to break down a resolute Nomads defence

The Deesiders looked to respond after the break with Mike Bakare causing the Saints defence problems while Jake Phillips peppered the home area with an array of set pieces and long throws.

The pressure almost yielded reward with 11 minutes remaining with Bakare heading over after Declan Poole’s cross had unlocked the home defence.

TNS ended the game on top and went in search of their 100th goal of the season.

Ryan Brobbel curled wide of goalkeeper Lewis Brass’ post before Chris Marriott picked out Adrian Cieslewicz who fired off target.

At the end of the match the Saints celebrated clinching the title by 12 points and will go into this weekend’s JD Welsh Cup Final against Connahs Quay as favourites to complete a league and cup double.
