FOUR Crosses clinched promotion from the second division with a 2-0 win at Rhayader Town on Tuesday night.

Goals from Gaz Jones and Jay Thomas earned Crosses the spoils to join Montgomery Town in the top flight of Mid Wales football next season.

Manager Mike Barton said: “Obviously everyone at the club is thrilled.

“We thought we messed it up early in season with three points being deducted but we have been on a fantastic run since Boxing Day with 13 league wins on the bounce.

“We have a fantastic close group here and we are keen to see how we can do in division one.

“We will have to add a couple but we will be competitive next season.”

Meanwhile Abermule ended their season on a high with a 3-1 victory at home to lowly Aberystwyth University.

Goals from Jack Weaver, Charlie Kinsey and Jack Carroll cancelled out Nathan Ash’s reply and ensured the villagers ended the season in seventh position.

Elsewhere Builth Wells ended their MMP-NL Mid Wales League One campaign with a 3-0 win at home to Carno with goals from Josh Price, Jack Hammond and Richie Powell doing the damage.
