THE fate of the MMP-NL Mid Wales League One championship will be decided on Saturday.

Leaders Llanfair United travel to Kerry knowing a win would secure the title and promotion with Llanidloes Town waiting to pounce on any slip up with victory at Tywyn Bryncrug.

United manager Rhys Stephens said: “We will be taking nothing for granted. Kerry is never an easy place to go and their record against the top teams is very good.

“We’re just looking for one more big performance to get us over the line”

United are unbeaten in the league since October but Stephens insisted should his side slip up and Llanidloes seized the title the Daffodils would be deserved champions.

“It goes to show what a good league it’s been this season that there were four teams right in it until the last couple of games of the season.

“Llanidloes have been very good all season so whichever one of us wins it will be fully deserved.”

Such sentiments were echoed by Llanidloes Town manager Hugh Clarke.

“We have a great record against the top sides this season but dropped a few points against the lower sides which may come back to haunt us,” said Clarke. “In saying that we have had a great season and we will celebrate on Saturday whatever happens.

“The club is progressing on and off the pitch each season and we have the best supporters in the league.

Clarke added: “Tywyn is never an easy place to go and they have ended the season well but we will be aiming to collect three points and hope Llanfair slip up at Kerry.”

Both fixtures will kick off at 2.30pm.
