WELSHPOOL go into the new season full of optimism despite several high profile departures.
Russell Cadwallader will once again lead the club in a strong second division with the evergreen Rupert Redway captaining the second team.
Paul Chapman, Dan Pritchard, Nick Davies and James Breeze lead the batting line-up while Rob Anderson, Matt McWhinnie and youngster Tom Bowen will be relied upon to lead the bowling attack.
Cadwallader said: “The club is under no illusion as to the size of the task facing us following the league restructure. Avoiding relegation will be difficult but with a strong team spirit and some inspired individual performances, a spot out of the bottom two may be possible.
“The emphasis at Welshpool will be on the team rather than individual with everyone playing their part in what promises to be a competitive and enjoyable summer.”
A strong committee and thriving youth section continues to be integral to the club with many prospects tipped to step up to senior level.
“Youth will be given every opportunity with a view to the future,” said Cadwallader.
“Many of last season’s Shropshire U13s League title winning side will be given opportunities in the second team as the club looks to build strong foundations for the future and will look to learn from Rupert Redway, Dave Whitehouse and Matt Sherwood.”
