ALBERBURY have appointed a joint captaincy team to lead their first division campaign.

James Harrap and Oliver Corbett have stepped up to take over from James Wynne following his successful two year stint with the border side relishing the challenge ahead in the restructured Shropshire League

Harrap said: “We know it’s going to be a challenging season with the inclusion of the second teams from the Birmingham League and the teams coming down from last year but we are aiming for a mid table finish.”

Batsman Adam Lawrence and all rounder Dan Leach have departed Pecknall Farm for pastures new but the arrival of all rounder Matt Bevan from Wroxeter boost the line-up.

The usual suspects will be at the forefront of the team with Mark Jones and Mike Crawshaw leading the charge with the bat while Andy Holloway, Myles Thomas and Sam Morris will once again form the bowling attack.

The club has a reputation for developing young talent and several emerging prospects will also look to make their mark this summer, including Jordan and Dominic Zaza.

Meanwhile the club’s second string will be led by Nick Williams with Ed Roberts stepping up to vice captain.

The Shropshire League reorganisation sees the club’s second string in the fifth division and hopes are high of securing a top four finish.

Sahim Zaza will look to lead the side with the bat while up and coming bowler Tom Butler has been backed to maintain his impressive strides this summer.

One again the Pecknall Farm club will also be fielding a side in the Henshalls Shropshire Sunday League as a bridge between junior and senior level cricket.
