WELSHPOOL Rugby Club hosted its first ever Touch Rugby festival on Saturday.

DreFest 2019, sponsored by McCartney's Estate Agents, was played out under glorious sunshine and hailed a resounding success.

Funds raised from the day will go toward the club's efforts to purchase pitch side lights

Eight teams took part with each mixed ability and gender and while sides were chiefly drawn from the organising club the organisers were delighted to welcome old friends from Newtown and the newly formed Knighton Ladies RFC.

The DreFest Cup was eventually won by 'Live Fast, Try Young' while the Plate competition saw a team comprising of the club's under 16s prevail.

The day was also a social event for families with bouncy castes and an onsite bar with food served throughout the day while local band Black Market gave a pitch side performance.

In the evening all who took part enjoyed a hog roast, live music from Rob Picken and a DJ set from Priestland.

Club spokesman Toby Hodgson said: "The club would like thank to all who took part and helped organise the day, it was a great success."
