LLANIDLOES found title chasing Dolgellau too hot to handle with a 63-7 thrashing at Cae Marian in North Wales League Two.

The depleted visitors had no answer as the hosts ran riot with two tries each for Gareth Hughes, Lewis Jones and Rob Pugh while Jake Hinge, Marius Jones, James Owen, Eben Jones and Jac Roberts also crossed the whitewash.

Hinge added two conversions with Dafydd Roberts and Jac Roberts also adding conversions.

Llanidloes replied with a late consolation try from Dave Pugh, converted by Adam Price, but it proved scant consolation.

Dolgellau’s resounding victory sets up a top op the table clash against COBRA on Saturday.

The Meifod side maintained pole position with a 29-12 win at Nant Conwy IIs.

Will Worthington’s penalty gave COBRA an early lead before wing Richard Noakes crossed for the only try of the first-half.

COBRA stepped up after the break with Ieuan Williams adding a second try, converted by Worthington.

No8 Jack Jukes crashed over following a five metre scrum for a third try, again converted by Worthington, before the visitors cemented a bonus point with wing Richard Jones crashing over with Worthington adding the extras.

Meanwhile Machynlleth signed off their third division campaign with a 29-5 victory at home to Holyhead to ensure their promotion bid remained alive.

Tries from Gerwyn Coleman, Ryan Blockley, Richard Rees, Steffan Nutting and Kameron Simmonds-Sandy, who also added two conversions, clinched the bonus point victory.

Machynlleth must now hope title rivals Shotton stumble in their final game of the season against Llangefni to be crowned champions and seal promotion to the second division.

As well as the final appearance of Tommy Thorndyke the match represented the last for physio Anwen Morris after 12 years service.

Morris said: “Its been a pleasure to look after the team. I may be giving up my role but I will continue to support the team and club.”

The club holds its annual dinner and presentation evening on April 27 with hopes high the evening will also be a promotion celebration.
