BUILTH Wells boosted their promotion bid with a battling 29-22 win at home to Pencoed in Swalec division two west central.
The Bulls recovered from a poor opening which saw Adam Williams kick an early penalty for the visitors.
However Builth led soon after with a try from Ashley Mills who was driven over from a five metre scrum with Rob Lloyd converting.
Pencoed responded with a penalty from Williams but Builth soon restored their cushion with a try from captain Rhys Davies, once again converted by Lloyd.
Pencoed continued to remain in contention with the reliable boot of Williams reducing the arrears on half-time.
The visitors were buoyed by the score and celebrated a try at the start of the second-half with Lloyd Bargery crossing for a try with Williams adding the extras.
Builth settled their nerves with tries either side of the hour as Aiden Luxton and Tom Samuel crossed the whitewash with Lloyd converting one.
Pencoed toiled until the last and were rewarded with a late consolation try from Callum Palmer to claim a losing bonus point.
However the day belonged to the Bulls who continue to dream of promotion.
Meanwhile a bumper Builth Wells squad stormed to a 35-17 victory over South Powys rivals Gwernyfed in a reserve friendly last week.
Builth boasted a 30 man squad for the clash,.
