Guilsfield 3 Prestatyn Town 2

GUILSFIELD prevailed in an action packed encounter against Prestatyn Town at Clos Mytton.

The villagers went into the game with a skeleton squad with Callum Bromley suspended and Steve Blenkinsop injured with veteran Danny Barton promoted to the bench having already represented the club's reserve string earlier in the day.

Danny Davies fired wide and Alex Jones saw a goalbound header blocked as Prestatyn started on top.

However Guilsfield led with their first attack of the game as Jake Cook capitalised to fire his side into a 12th minute lead.

Prestatyn levelled on 25 minutes with Davies turning home Ben Maher's free-kick only for Guilsfield to restore their lead five minutes later with a long throw from Chris Cathrall headed home by Robbie James.

The match continued to entertain as both sides pressed but the villagers defended their lead.

Prestatyn levelled for a second time on 65 minutes with another free-kick from Maher met by James Jones to head beyond goalkeeper Mike Jones.

Guilsfield were dealt a major blow moments later when Adan Jenkins was dismissed following a rash challenge with manager Nathan Leonard exiled to the stands soon after.

Prestatyn were also reduced to 10 men soon when Davies earned a second caution after handling in the area with 15 minutes remaining.

Cathrall stepped up to convert the resulting penalty and seal three hard fought points for the villagers and boost their hopes to end the season in the top half of the table.
