GIRLS football in Powys continues to go from strength to strength.
Last week the regional under 15s side overcame Swansea 7-0 in the Welsh Schools Inter Association Cup with doubles from Georgina Jackson, Paris Schofield and Dottie Evans inspiring an emphatic win while Ellie Jones completed the rout.
The side now take on Caerphilly Schools in the semi-final.
Meanwhile the regional under 13s side also maintained their own impressive campaign with a 6-4 win over Flintshire Schools at Newtown Football Club’s Latham Park this week.
The region’s final representatives in the Welsh Schools Cup were also in action this week.
Newtown travelled to Carmarthen Town Football Club’s Richmond Park and slipped to a 7-1 defeat at the hands of Bro Myrddin.
Welsh international Carrie Jones netted a consolation for Newtown but could not find a route back into the game.
Coach Jonny Roberts said: “Our girls didn’t give up and and took the game to our opponents but our opponents were just too strong to let us get a foot hold back in the match. “We wish them well for he rest of the competition, hopefully they go all the way now.”
