NEWTOWN booked a final date in the North Wales Women’s League Cup with a 4-0 win at home to old rivals Welshpool on Saturday.

Goals from Jacqui Loxam and Heidi Langford gave the home side an interval lead with the latter completing her brace after the break while Karen Lewis also struck.

Newtown now take on Ardudwy in the final in Wrexham on Saturday, April 13.

Meanwhile a Frankie Jones double inspired Presteigne to a 3-1 win victory at home to Howardians IIs in the second division of the South Wales Women’s Premier League.

Jess Goodwin completed the scoring for the East Radnor side.

Elsewhere Radnor staged a thrilling fightback to claim a point in a 3-3 draw at home to derby rivals Kington.

The English side raced into a three goal lead inside the opening 20 minutes before the ever reliable Elin Wozencraft struck following a short corner in reply.

New signing Sioned Davies outsmarted the Kington goalkeeper to net before Hayley Price rifled Radnor level on half-time with the match ending in a six goal thriller.

Meanwhile Newtown were brought crashing back to earth following their recent revival with a 7-1 defeat at Bloxwich IIs in the West Midlands Men’s Premier League.

Despite a penalty save from goalkeeper Richard Jones the Welshmen were always chasing the game with Oscar Crutchley reducing the arrears with a second-half consolation.

Sam Kelsey and Andy Denham also threatened for Newtown but the West Midlands hosts wrapped up the points with four second-half strikes to ensure a long trip home for the depleted Mid Wales outfit.
