GUILSFIELD finally secured their Huws Gray Alliance status for another season with a last gasp win at Buckley Town.

The Guils made the trip without five regular players but belied their lowly league standing to match the Wrexham side across the pitch.

The inform hosts were made to toil for their lead with Adam Eden finally wearing down Guils resolve with a 72nd minute opener which looked enougyh to claim victory.

However the Guils continued to toil and were rewarded when George Clifton levelled two minutes into injury-time.

Buckley were still reeling from the late drama when Chris Cathrall pounced to net a last gasp winner with the last touch of the game.

Manager Nathan Leonard praised his depleted squad with second tier status now mathematically secured.

“The lads to a man were fantastic,” said Leonard. “Every single one of them deserve the plaudits for a great win.

“Buckley were organised and physical but we matched them all over and were the better team for large parts despite being without five first team players.

“The work rate was phenomenal all over the pitch and I’m a firm believer you get out of life and football what you put in.

“The lads deserved the win and long may it continue this season.”
