LLANIDLOES had no answer to Dolgellau as the second division title chasers stormed to a 29-5 win at Cae Hafren.

Full back Ellis Smith crossed for an opening minute try, converted by Jake Hinge, to give Dolgellau a dream start with unyielding pressure leading to a second try with scrum-half Lewis Jones darting over before the break.

Hinge crossed for a third try early in the second-half before Llanidloes rallied with a quick tap penalty from captain Paul Jehu.

Dolgellau settled the outcome with tries from Dewi Thomas and Henri Roberts as Llanidloes ended the game with 14 men.

Meanwhile injury ravaged Newtown suffered a heavy defeat with their patched up side crashing to a 55-7 defeat at Nant Conwy IIs.

Coach Gareth Gerrard dusted down his boots and was joined by Will Richards and Dylan Leach in returning from long term injuries while Matt Bebb made his debut

Scrum-half Dewi Bowen crossed for a consolation try and conversion for Town as Nant Conwy ran out convincing winners.

Elswhere Welshpool snatched a last gasp 12-10 victory at Colwyn Bay with Nick Morris scoring the match winning try, converted by Harry Davies to add to his earlier try.

Machynlleth maintained their third division title bid with a 33-27 victory at Menai Bridge.

Kameron Simmonds-Sandy’s early penalty separated the sides early on before Bridge hit back with a try from Chris Roberts, converted by Dan McGrath.

Mach rallied with Gerwyn Coleman, Simmonds-Sandy and Ryan Blockley running home tries with the latter converting his own at the end of the first-half.

The sides traded tries after the break with Dave Williams crossing for the hosts before Thomas Ifan replied for Machynlleth.

Gareth Parry’s converted try and a penalty from McGrath reduced the arrears but Machynlleth held firm for another victory toward their promotion bid.
