Guilsfield 0 Rhyl 0

GUILSFIELD returned from a three week break to hold Rhyl to a goalless stalemate at Clos Mytton.

The match was refereed by Guilsfield based Rob Jenkins after the scheduled match officials were involved in a road traffic accident enroute to Mid Wales.

Home goalkeeper Mike Jones was first test tested on 14 minutes with a free-kick from James Murphy spilled into the path of Ben Nash only for Jones to smother.

Phil Molyneux went close before his cross was steered wide on the far post by Cai Owen as Rhyl continued to threaten.

Guilsfield fired a warning shot of their own midway through the half with Steve Blenkinsop firing over before Jake Cook went close.

Rhyl ended the half on top with Molyneux shaving post from 18 yards before Jones was forced into action to top Nash’s header over the bar.

It was a similar story after the break with Joe Sullivan and Dave McIntyre firing wide for the Seasiders.

Dangerman Molyneux continued his personal duel with Jones with the Guils goalkeeper racing out to deny the Rhyl striker a clear chance on goal with 15 minutes remaining.

Guilsfield could have snatched glory late on with Cook drilling a low left wing cross into the path of Adam Jenkins who fired into the sidenetting from close range.
