COBRA closed on the North Wales League Two title with a 24-14 derby win at home to Llanidloes.

The visitors made the trip with just 14 men and with uncontested scrums neither side managed to find their usual rhythm early on.

COBRA lost scrum-half Bryn Davies to a dislocated elbow inside the opening five minutes but still opened the scoring through No8 Jack Jukes’ try, converted by Will Worthington.

Llanidloes responded with a try from wing James Davies before COBRA celebrated a second try with wing Richard Noakes running 30 metres to cross for a try.

Llanidloes remained in contention and reduced the deficit thanks to the boot of Carwyn Williams who kicked a penalty either side of the interval.

The match was disrupted with both sides issued two yellow cards before Llanidloes were reduced to 13 men with the dismissal of second row Dave Pugh.

COBRA capitalised with a try from hooker Steve Isaac before Llanidloes replied with a penalty from Williams.

COBRA settled the outcome with Jukes crashing over to seal the bonus point with Worthington adding the conversion.
