MONTGOMERY Town are MMP-NL Mid Wales League Two champions.

Tom Evans struck twice with Scott Williams completing the scoring as Montgomery sealed a 3-0 win at Aberystwyth University to seal the title and a triumphant return to the third tier of Welsh football.

“The lads have improved significantly this season and have given everything week in, week out,” said manager Luke Williams. “They are excited about the challenges that lie ahead.”

Elsewhere Dyffryn Banw claimed a 2-1 win at Waterloo Rovers to end the Welshpool side’s top two bid.

Harry Evans latched onto a Dyfrig Jones long ball to fire Banw ahead with the Llangadfan side leading at the break.

Charlie Proctor restored parity for Rovers at the start of the second-half only for Banw to regain the lead with Bran Griffiths seizing on a goalkeeping lapse to net.

Meanwhile Borth United exacted swift revenge for defeat in the reverse fixture the previous week with a 4-2 win at home to Abermule.

Samm Chapman led the way with a double for the Magpies with Guto Huws and Ryan Davies completing the scoring with Mule staying in contention through Nick Mumby and Ricky Davies.

Hay St Marys home clash with Dolgellau Athletic and Machynlleth’s meeting with Rhayader Town were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

The weather also hit the first division programme with Kerry’s Dolforgan Park unplayable for their scheduled visit of Llanfair United while Churchstoke’s clash with Llandrindod Wells was also postponed.

The only game to survive the weather saw Tywyn Bryncrug celebrate a 4-0 win at Llansantffraid.

Tom Allen-Davies starred with a double for the Cormorants with Aled Jones and Cullen Rodgers goals completing a vital win for the visitors to ease their basement fears.
