Llanrhaeadr 3
Ruthin Town 2
LLANRHAEADR took a major step toward survival with victory over Ruthin Town in Llansantffraid.
The villagers imposed themselves from the start and it was no surprise when Marc Griffiths’ cross was cleared as far as Tom Evans who lashed his side into a 25th minute lead.
Llanrhaeadr dominated and could have doubled their lead with Griffiths’ volley testing Ruthin goalkeeper Ryan Goldston.
However Ruthin levelled before the break with Llyr Morris converting a penalty after Iain Edmunds’ poor challenge in the area.
Llanrhaeadr started the second-half on top and regained their lead on 55 minutes with Khyam Wytton on target from the penalty spot after Joe Vaughan was brought down in the area by Goldston.
With 11 minutes remaining player-manager Griffiths added a third with a decisive finish from Iwan Matthews’ cross.
Ruthin rallied and gained a late consolation through Will Owen but Llanrhaeadr held firm for a deserved victory.
LLANRHAEADR: Hayns, M Evans, Bailey, G Evans, Edmunds, Green, Vaughan, T Evans, Whytton, Griffiths. Subs: M Jones, K Evans, Kelly, Graham, Lee.
