GRAHAM Evans has welcomed the potential return of Colwyn Bay Football Club to the Welsh pyramid.

The North Wales club confirmed its intent to open dialogue with the Football Association of Wales (FAW) at a public meeting when officials revealed a £100k financial shortfall.

At the current rate officials warned the club would cease to exist in two years and has now looked to end its self imposed 27 year exile.

FAW cllr Evans of Tregynon said: “The rumoured return of Colwyn Bay can only be viewed as a positive step for Welsh football.

“However I’m sure they will need to assess all their options before making such a committed decision, part of which will include where they would potentially join the pyramid structure.”

The club won a 1992 High Court ruling against the FAW to allow them to remain in the English pyramid but the club has since struggled on and off the field as their local rivals prosper in the Welsh system.”
