NEWTOWN hit the road for Bala Town tonight (Friday).

The Robins make the trip to Maes Tegid with confidence following a thrilling 3-2 win at home to Caernarfon Town last week.

Manager Chris Hughes said: “I expect a tough game against a very experienced team.

“They have games in hand and will be looking to get points on the board but we make the trip with confidence and a feeling we should have got something at Bala in the first phase.”

Hughes praised his side for their display against Caernarfon last week which galvanised the club’s top four bid.

“We had a good tempo and defended well, I always felt we were capable of scoring and thought Alex Fletcher’s goal was very well taken.

“Perhaps we conceded a few too many corners during the game but we defended well against a big Caernarfon side so the players deserve a lot of credit.”

Goalkeeper Dave Jones remains a doubt following concussion with Jack Perry ready to deputise following an impressive display against Caernarfon last week.

Meanwhile Newtown Football Club is on the look out for new stewards.

The JD Welsh Premier club’s team of stewards cover home matches as well as providing stewarding for civic events in the town, including the Christmas Lights switch on and international sporting events.

Spokesman Keith Tanner said: “The club is looking for people to get involved, in particularly younger people.”
