NEWTOWN slipped to a 3-2 defeat at home to Wolverhampton in the West Midland Men’s Premier League.

Goals from Tom Hillidge and Oscar Crutchley were not enough for the Welsh hosts as the city visitors edged a slender margin of victory.

Meanwhile Welshpool were dragged back into the North Wales Women’s League One relegation dogfight with a 2-1 defeat at basement side Caernarfon.

In a match dominated by gale force winds the Mid Wales side led through Beth Wyn Williams but the home side stormed back to level before netting a winner late on.

Elsewhere Llanfair Caereinion crashed to a heavy 6-1 defeat at Dysynni with Louise Evans netting a consolation for the Pink Ladies.

Meanwhile Newtown could only field eight players as their side were swept aside 16-0 at unbeaten Ardudwy.

Presteigne picked up a point in a 1-1 draw at home to Penarth in division two of the South Wales Women’s Premier League with Megan Cosgrave netting for the Radnor side.

Hayley Price struck twice as Radnor celebrated a 4-1 win at home to Bridgend in division one with Lowri Morris and Rhian Farmer completing the scoring for the Goats.
