RHYDIAN Davies led Caersws to a comprehensive 3-1 win at home to Llanidloes Town to end the Daffodils’ MMP-NL Mid Wales League and Cup double dreams.

Craig Harris gave Caersws the lead before Davies’ double earned the Bluebirds a place in the semi-finals.

Llanidloes rallied and reduced the arrears through Connor Bird but could not prevent the villagers exacting their revenge for an early season league defeat.

Meanwhile goalkeeper Stuart Turpin was the toast of Builth Wells following a man of the match display in the Bulls’ thrilling 7-8 penalty shoot out win at Aberaeron.

Ifan Burrell and Steffan Gittins goals for Aberaeron were cancelled out by Jamie Price’s strike and a stunning 30 yard volley from Turpin who saved the crucial spot kick in the shoot out to send Builth Wells into the semi-finals.

Carno had to fight to overcome the challenge of second division leaders Montgomery Town with goals from Jac Petrie and Richie Evans just enough to cancel a reply from Scott Williams in a 2-1 win at Clos Tanymur.

Elsewhere Berriew made light work of a youthful Welshpool Town with Joe Haycock netting twice in an emphatic 7-0 win at Talbot Field on Friday night.

Goals from Richard Davies, Charlie Humphreys, Harry Watkins, Steff Rogers and Xavier Matisse completed an emphatic margin of victory for Dave Jones’ side.
