Guilsfield 1 Penrhyncoch 1

JONNY Evans struck a late equaliser as Penrhyncoch hit back to snatch a point at Guilsfield.

The Roosters arrived at Clos Mytton galvanised following the previous week’s win over Holyhead Hotspur with Evans going close inside the opening 10 minutes.

Evans tested home goalkeeper Mike Jones for the first time on 23 minutes and just five minutes later Jack Rimmer released Nashawn Blake who cut inside only to be denied by Jones.

Guilsfield struggled to create chances during a disappointing first-half despite plenty of industry from the attacking trio of Aaron Edwards, Adam Jenkins and Jake Cook.

The first-half was interrupted when Edwards clashed with visiting goalkeeper Lee Jenkins who needed lengthy treatment.

Meanwhile the last act of the half saw Blake blast Antonio Corbisiero’s cross over the bar.

Jenkins failed to return for the second-half with Cledan Davies forced to don the No1 jersey who was quickly tested with a fine save to deny Chris Cathrall.

Davies produced a fine double save to deny Edwards before eventually being beaten by a 55th minute penalty from Jenkins awarded for a handball in the area.

Penrhyn were dealt a blow when Carl Lamb sustained an elbow injury and Guilsfield to look to capitalise.

Instead Davies and stoic defending from the Roosters ensured the visitors rode out the storm and remained in the game.

With 13 minutes remaining a low free-kick from Evans went under the wall and beyond the reach of Jones to the delight of the visitors bench,

Evans almost snatched a late winner moments later only to be denied by the woodwork with Tom Evans spurning the rebound.
