TNS 5 Newtown 0

GREG Draper came off the bench to net twice as TNS strolled past an outclassed Newtown at Park Hall on Friday night.

The Saints survived an early scare when Nick Rushton seized upon a loose back pass from Simon Spender only for goalkeeper Paul Harrison to close the angle

However it did not take long for TNS to find their momentum with Ryan Brobbel dispossessing Kieran Mills-Evans before racing through to lash a drive beyond goalkeeper Jack Perry on 15 minutes.

TNS continued to attack with Jamie Mullan and Danny Redmond going close for the hosts.

On 32 minutes Perry was forced into action to turn Redmond's 25 yard blast around the post.

However the Saints celebrated an inevitable second just before the break with Brobbel's free-kick causing havoc in the area for Jack Bodenham to scramble home.

It was all over four minutes into the second-half with Mullan volleying home Brobbel's cross.

Newtown had no answer to the slick Saints who could have added a fourth soon after only for Kurtis Byrne to see his effort cleared off the line by Robins captain Craig Williams.

With the points in the bag the Saints bench introduced winger Billy Whitehouse to make his debut following his January move from Tadcaster.

However it was the familiar face of another substitute who completed the Saints massacre with New Zealand ace Draper wasting little time in making an impact off the bench.

With 15 minutes remaining Draper raced through the visiting defence before slotting under an advancing Perry as the home side celebrated their fourth goal.

Draper was not finished yet and with seconds remaining turned home a right wing cross from Brobbel to complete the Saints dominant victory and Newtown's misery.
