ANDREW Davies will represent Great Britain at the World Trail Championship in Portugal this summer.
The Forden star has previously represented GB at the WMRA Mountain Running Championship and Wales at two consecutive Commonwealth Games.
Davies said: “I’m delighted to be selected to represent GB again. It’s been a few years so it’s great to be added to a really strong squad.
“My main focus will be London Marathon in April and then I’ll turn my attention to the World Trail Championships. It makes all the training worth it when getting selected for events like this.
Meanwhile two Powys athletes ended on the podium at last weekend’s star studded Welsh Indoor Championships in Cardiff.
Former Newtown athlete Sian Swanson, now at Cardiff AC, claimed her 20th Welsh title and claimed gold in the senior women’s triple jump with an effort of 11.60m having overcome injury.
Meanwhile Welshpool’s Adele Nicoll claimed a silver medal in the senior women’s shot putt with an effort of 15.14m not enough for top spot with the Birchfield Harrier having to be content with a silver.
