COBRA celebrated a record 94-0 victory at Shotton in the North Wales Women’s League League to stay on course for the championship.

The Meifod side opened the scoring through Libby Jones who marked her return to the side with four tries on the day.

Wing Katie Evans added a quick brace during the opening quarter to put COBRA in a strong position and the try rout continued with scores celebrated at regular intervals.

The pressure continued to build with centres Bronwen Evans and Kirsty Walsh playing key roles in setting up Fiona Moss and Ffion Williams to cross for tries.

Strong carrying from the COBRA forwards took its toll on the hosts as Catrin Davies and player of the match Gemma Robinson crossed before half-time.

The second-half continued in the same vain with strong carrying from the pack and skilful handling from the backs seeing Davies, Moss, Robinson and skipper Williams ending with two tries each.

Scrum half Fiona Davies also bagged two tries to cap an impressive display with Williams kicking seven conversions.

COBRA will look to maintain their bid for honours in the Game On North Wales League at Holyhead on Sunday having closed on leaders Abergele.

Meanwhile the club’s Nancy Twigg represented RGC at the Super 5s tournament in Pontypridd having graduated through the club arm of the Mid Wales Rebels set-up.
