Penrhyncoch 1 Denbigh Town 2

RELEGATION clouds darkened over Cae Baker after Penrhyncoch slumped to fellow strugglers Denbigh Town.

New signing Kristian Pierce was denied by home goalkeeper Lee Jenkins inside the opening five minutes while the Roosters threatened through Jonny Evans early on.

The match continued to be evenly contested with Jon Foligno's headed effort from Jack Rimmer's free-kick testing Denbigh goalkeeper Craig Vernon on 29 minutes.

It was a similar story in the second-half with Josh Shaw releasing Rimmer to drag wide while at the other end Mark Roberts forced Jenkins into a smart save.

Chances continued to come and go for both sides with Sam Downey denied by the woodwork while Luke Sherbon's saw his effort cleared off the line.

Denbigh broke the deadlock on the hour with Pat Hinchcliffe blasting home from a tight angle after the visitors countered.

Five minutes later Pierce's shot was blocked by Jenkins but Roberts was on hand to net and double Denbigh's lead.

Denbigh looked to see out the game with the points all but secured but Penrhyncoch refused to wilt and netted an injury-time consolation with Jonny Evans slotting home after good work from Steff Davies.
