Llanrhaeadr 1 Holywell Town 3

NINE man Llanrhaeadr suffered frustration as lowly Holywell Town won the day at Treflan.

Both sides traded blows early on with Marc Griffiths testing Holywell goalkeeper Kristian Platt while Glenn Evans also steered Iain Edmunds’ corner over the bar.

The villagers led on 14 minutes with Edmunds’ corner only cleared as far as Iwan Matthews who lashed home via the inside of the post from 18 yards.

Holywell wasted little time in mounting a response and six minutes later Rob Jones blasted home to give Saints goalkeeper Jimmy Hayns no chance.

The Wellmen began the second-half on top and looked to have led when Steve Lewis struck only to be ruled offside.

Llanrhaeadr weathered the storm and handed Holywell a fright on 65 minutes when Dan Kelly’s header was defected onto the bar.

Holywell capitalised on their escape and five minutes later led for the first time with Lewis making no mistake from close range.

Llanrhaeadr’s day went from bad to worse when Tom Evans and Glenn Evans both received second cautions to receive their marching orders in a nightmare five minutes for the villagers.

Holywell made the most of their numerical advantage by dominating the remainder of the clash and added a third late on with Lewis completing his brace from the penalty spot.
