Flint Town Utd 2 Penrhyncoch 1

PENRHYNCOCH continue to languish in the relegation zone following a battling defeat at Flint Town United.

The Roosters started with the intent to end their long wait for a win with a series of early corners but it was the Silkmen who led on 21 minutes with Andy Brown steering home Ben Burrows’ left wing cross.

Kyle Smith lashed wide for the hosts before Penrhyn threatened with another corner only for Jon Foligno’s header to be cleared off the line by Tom Kemp.

However the Roosters were back on terms at the start of the second-half with Jonny Evans heading past goalkeeper Aaron Jones.

Flint regained their lead within a minute as Mark Cadwallader met Jake Hampson’s free-kick to head beyond goalkeeper Lee Jenkins.

Cadwallader could have added to his tally only to balloon over after Jenkins spilled Brown’s shot into his path.

Cadwallader saw another effort ruled offside while Evans also drilled wide on the hour.

Penrhyn continued to match their high flying hosts who sat back and protected their lead.
