MAESYRHANDIR manager Ben Pearse is looking forward to a bright future with the club.

The club founder made an emotional return to the Montgomeryshire League this month with the aim of steadying the ship with the assistance of Ryan Hawksworth and player-coach Joe Evans.

Pearse hopes the club entering a partnership with town rivals Newtown Wanderers and junior club Newtown White Stars can only help the three clubs flourish in the future.

Pearse said: “My main in taking on the job is to keep Maesyrhandir Football Club alive following a difficult season.

“However the club is optimistic about the future and working with our friends at Newtown Wanderers and Newtown White Stars during the close season to ensure we can all benefit from the Open Newtown project.”

Maesyrhandir face the biggest game of their season on Saturday with the Newtown club travelling to Waterloo Rovers Reserves in the semi-finals of the Tanners Towns Cup.

“It’s a game we are looking forward to and hope to take that next step to the final,” said Pearse. “With Newtown not having a game this weekend it would be great if as many Newtown supporters made the trip down to Welshpool to cheer us on.”
